Thanksgiving feasts will leave most of us in a turkey-stuffed stupor (hopefully at home and not at the office) but the Boston startup scene will be buzzing the week after as Web Innovators Group will host their last event of 2011: WebInno 32. On Tuesday November 29th at 6:30PM at the Royal Sonesta, a select group of budding web-based companies will pitch their products and services to hundreds in the greater Boston web community. The lucky companies showcasing at the last WebInno of the 2011 are: BestVendor, Kibits, Tasted Menu, hyper3D, DailyFeats, MeetingKing, PowerInbox, Take the Interview, Rejoiner, Rocketmind, and AppBlade.
Main Dishes:
The main event of the evening features three “Main Dishes”, BestVendor, Kibits, and Tasted Menu, each of which has the audience’s full attention for 20 minutes to showcase their idea.
BestVendor: App stores can be a daunting place. Even narrowing down the subject matter to topics such as games, or work related apps leaves thousands of possibilities. Here enters BestVendor, a resource for discovering the best work apps based on the experience of others. The current beta version is a give-to-get community, where a few app reviews unlocks the recommendations of others.
Kibits: It’s all about personal connection these days and Kibits want you to connect with the people who matter most in the simplest of ways. This “mobile first” resource allows users to create on the fly groups in order to share photos, locations, documents, chat and more, all in real time. This Cambridge-based startup is less than a year old but with some funding already under their belt.
Tasted Menu: Boston is in the midst of a culinary explosion with dozens of new restaurants popping up all over town. With thousands of dishes to choose from, deciding on a restaurant, much less a meal might de tougher than you imagined. This is where Alex Rosenfeld and his team at Tasted Menu come in. After recently holding the public launch for the site (and an upcoming mobile app deployment), Tasted Menu is a great way “to find the best burger” or answer “what’s good to eat here?”
Side Dishes:
Here’s a little test: what’s your favorite part of Thanksgiving? Think about it for a second. Now, did you come up with something besides turkey? Say, stuffing or dessert? This is how the “side dishes” work at WebInno. These companies might not have 20 minutes of everyone’s undivided attention, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t worthy of it. Just ask Dropbox, who was a side dish back in the day. Here’s a list of the companies that attendees will have a chance to meet before the showcase:
Hypr3D turns your regular ole digital photos into a 3D model.
DailyFeats is a platform where you can do small positive actions (reduce stress, save money, lose weight) that amount to a big change.
MeetingKing simplifies meeting by allowing users to manage, structure, record and follow-up.
PowerInbox is an application platform that enables apps to run directly in an email message.
Take The Interview makes a recruiter’s life easier by collect video responses to the most important interview questions prior to the in-person interview.
Rejoiner tracks your sites’ forms in real-time and if they abandon, find your place again with recovery emails.
Rocketmind develops mobile apps that run on the Android operating system including Big Sport Fishing 3D and Tap Dialer.
AppBlade deploy, test, and manage mobile applications from a variety of mobile devices. AppBlade was created by Raizlabs.
