Northeast Youth Ballet’s “The Nutcracker” is about the enchanting journey of a young girl named Clara in 1835 Germany, when she embarks on a journey through a winter wonderland to a palace of sugary sweets. Featuring the talents of more than 100 dancers who auditioned from the greater Boston area, the production is set to be staged once again at the Lynn Memorial Auditorium, 3 City Hall Square.
This year, the dancers are privileged to share the stage with both national and international professional guest artists hailing from China, Colombia, Canada, Hawaii and New York. Now in its 15th year of production, the sets, costumes and lighting are specially designed by professional artists in the field.
“The Nutcracker” will run Thursday, Dec. 8, through Sunday, Dec. 11.
The story includes a battle with mice, mischief, magic and a beautiful Sugar Plum Fairy dancing in her Palace of Sweets, “The Nutcracker” has something for the whole family.
Tickets are $26 for adults and $23 for children and seniors (tickets include a $1 auditorium fee) and may be obtained through the theater Box Office. Group rates are also available, and for those who qualify, complimentary tickets are also available through NYB’s S.T.A.R.S. Program, a community outreach program.
“The Nutcracker” is choreographed by artistic director Denise Cecere, with music by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
