Re: “Warren lacks roots in Massachusetts” (letter, Dec. 13)
Elizabeth Warren lives in Cambridge and has been a resident of Massachusetts for almost 20 years. She is married to a local Bostonian with strong roots in Massachusetts. She has taught at Harvard for two decades. The Boston Globe named her in 2009 “Bostonian of the year” and The Woman’s Bar of Massachusetts honored her. To call her a carpet bagger is unfair and disingenuous.
What is the criteria for being able to run for office in Massachusetts? Must you be born here?
How about this for an idea: let’s vote for the person who is the most qualified and can represent Massachusetts citizens instead of their length of residency.
