Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi are Roma, insists the club owner

The Giallorossi chief hails the duo for their longevity at the club, and vows to make Roma the best club in the world…

A.S Roma chief, James Pallotta, has insisted that Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi are symbols of the club.

Pallotta admitted that the duo is extremely important to the club’s future success, and he wants them to stay at Stadio Olimpico Rome for a long time. De Rossi is on the brink of leaving the club at the end of the ongoing season,
but the chief is confident of making him stay.

While talking to the reporters, the chief said,

“Totti and De Rossi really represent Roma before well, which is why we want to keep them for a long time. They are Roma, in my view.”

The Italian international is in the last year of his contract at the club, and has failed to agree an extension.

Pallotta has become the major shareholder of the club after winning majority of the rights from Thomas Di Benedetto. The new owner insists that his parents had Italian background, and he feels extremely lucky to belong from the
country.

“I came to Italy many times. My father is of Roman origins, while my mother’s family is from Bari. I consider myself 100 per cent Italian even before American.”

The Bostonian insisted that he has not purchased the club just for the sake of investment, and he wants to make them the best team in the world. He insisted that he will only earn if the club performs well otherwise he will also
suffer as an investor.

“To me this is not just an investment, but an opportunity to create something really special and have Roma on top of the world, because that’s where they belong. If Roma do well then it won’t change the financial life of the investors.”

After a slow start to the 2011/12 season, the Giallorossi have started to find their momentum. They have secured three consecutive victories of late, and have climbed to the 7th spot in the league table.

Luis Enrique’s men will take on Catania in their next league game.
