Quincy Family Vet Promotes Wellness Through Pet Services and Owner Education

QUINCY, MA–(Marketwire – Jan 22, 2012) – Willard Veterinary Clinic is promoting pet health and wellness for animals from Dorchester, Quincy and other surrounding communities by offering a variety of pet services and providing pet owners with pet health information. In addition to general medical outpatient care, the holistic vet offers services that include small animal wellness, pet surgery, geriatric pet care, pet nutrition and extensive dental services. According to the clinic staff, the clinic also recently completed a visual re-design of its website to promote its philosophy of client education, changing the layout to make it cleaner, more user-friendly and easier to read.

Commenting on the wide array of services offered Dr. Meg Connelly said, “As a family vet, I look at all areas of a pet’s health, including diseases that can be transmitted from pets to their owners. I don’t just want to treat what’s wrong, I want to prevent problems and help pets and their families live healthier lives. We treat pets through all stages of their lives, from newborns to seniors, so combining traditional veterinary services with other elements like pet nutrition and dental care means we’re able to provide whatever help is needed at each pet’s specific stage of life.”

As part of its broad approach to pet wellness, the veterinary clinic recommends a preventative program of annual well care examinations, protective vaccinations, prevention of heartworm, testing for internal parasites, and skin care management. According to the clinic veterinarian, pets with more extensive medical needs may benefit from outpatient services such as diagnostic testing, diabetes monitoring, and allergy treatment. Geriatric services available at the clinic also include glaucoma testing, pain assessment and palliative cancer treatment.

Other pet services for Dorchester and the surrounding communities includes such pet surgeries as spay and neuter, general soft tissue surgery, and some orthopedic procedures. Nutritional programs and prescription diets can be developed for overweight pets, or those with problems such as food sensitivities, allergies, diabetes, or kidney disease. Dental care includes cleaning, x-rays, extractions and intraoral photography. The clinic is open six days per week, with evening and Saturday appointments available to accommodate the schedules of busy pet owners.

Pet owners can find information about the various stages of pet health on the newly-redesigned website, along with tips for home pet healthcare. The site also features more prominent places for links to social media connections such as Google, Yelp, and Facebook, so pet owners have more avenues to keep in touch with the clinic. Pet medications can also be ordered through an online pharmacy accessible from the website.

Willard Veterinary Clinic is located at 176 Willard Street in Quincy, and has been serving the pet health needs of South Shore, Milton, Dorchester, Braintree, Weymouth, Canton and the greater Boston area for over twenty years.
