1. Temperatures are expected to reach the low 50s today, but it’s also expected to rain through the afternoon.
2. Tickets go on sale at noon Friday, Jan. 27, for a recently added performance of the 2010 Tony Award-winning play, “Red,” at the SpeakEasy. The bonus performance is at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5 (Super Bowl Sunday) at the 539 Tremont St. theater. Playwright John Logan’s “Red” tells the story of abstract expressionist painter Mark Rothko as he is about to begin work on a series of large murals for the Four Seasons Restaurant in New York City in 1958. 3. The Vermont-based Bread and Puppet Theater will wrap up its week-long residency at the Cyclorama this Sunday, Jan. 29. The theater, known for its masked characters and giant papier-mâché puppets will have shows – “Attica and Man of Flesh and Cardbord” (evening, recommended for ages 12 and up) and “Man = Circus Carrot” (matinee, recommended for all ages) – throughout the weekend. 4. The Greater Boston Food Bank’s annual Super Hunger Brunch is this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, at a number of area restaurants, including the South End’s Stella (Sunday, $25) and Hamersley’s Bistro (Sunday, $35). All proceeds from the brunches help support the Greater Boston Food Bank. In the past three years, the fundraiser has raised more than $181,000, which has provided roughly 456,000 meals to those in need, according to the food bank. 5. If you’re a foodie looking to support President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign, look no further than “Chefs for Obama,” a cooking competition slash fundraiser at 6:30 p.m.on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the Cyclorama.
