Passenger rail moves millions of people and provides untold jobs, and I would never want to see any of that reduced (“Menino critical of cuts, fare hikes on T,” Jan. 31). All of this comes at a price and most systems are subsidized. Again, no problem. But let the people of Greater Boston subsidize it. Don’t make me pay for the Green Line because I have to buy gas in North Adams to drive an hour each way to get to my job. The T isn’t available to me, so why should I pay for it? I’d rather pay an increased fare next time I visit Boston.
