On March 13th, Boston’s Dropkick Murphys will issue an expanded edition of their latest LP, Going Out of Style. Aptly titled Going Out In Style: Fenway Park Bonus Edition, the set includes an entire disc worth of live cuts from the band’s September 2011 performance at Fenway Park. As a first listen, check out the disc’s live version of ”The Dirty Glass”, originally off Dropkick’s 2003 album Blackout.
In a live setting, this raucous, drunken homage to blacked out nights and whiskey-fuled romances utilizes the help of female vocalist and fellow Bostonian Kay Hanley. But even this feminine touch doesn’t put a damper on the gritty punk that Dropkick Murphys have made a name for themselves perfecting. “The Dirty Glass” is the musical approximation of the rowdiest bar fight you’ve never been in, and will provide a more than adequate soundtrack as you prepare for this St. Patrick’s Day. Even for all the Yankees fans out there.
