Beer lovers have a new destination in Boston.
The Yard House, a chain of restaurants with huge draft lists, opened its latest location, near Fenway Park in Boston, last week.
I had a chance to go to the grand opening on Friday night and had a great time. The draft list is huge, and the food is good. And the location, phenomenal.
The Yard House always has a huge draft list, and the Boston location is no different – they have 180 beers on draft. I’m pretty sure that is now the largest beer selection in greater Boston, at least on draft. The choices are also good. They have house beers (brewed by Firestone Walker). They also have beers from some of the best breweries in the country – Dogfish Head, Victory, Lagunitas and Stone.
They also have plenty of Massachusetts beers available, such as Pretty Things, Wormtown and Cisco Brewers. Imported beers, such as Weihenstephan Hefeweissbier and St. Bernardus Abt 12.
The food is about average in price for the area, which isn’t cheap. But, it is good – probably the best I’ve had at a chain restaurant. I’ve eaten several times at the Dedham location, and have always enjoyed my meal. There is a mix of all-American food like burgers and pizza, and more adventurous dishes such as crab crusted swordfish and chicken garlic noodles.
My one concern is how busy it will get before a Red Sox game, but it is very close to the Beer Works, so maybe the crowd will be split. And you can get a lot better beer for a better price at the Yard House than you can at Fenway Park.
The Yard House is located at 126 Brookline Ave., Boston. It is open Sunday-Thursday from 11 a.m. to midnight and Friday – Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.
