The Wellesley Youth Hockey Pee Wee A2 team defeated the Brookline Warriors 6-1 to win the Greater Boston League championship on Sunday.
The victory followed a 3-1 win over Somerville in the semifinals on Saturday.
The championship game pitted two evenly matched teams and Wellesley defense, led by Shahen Hagen, Will Jackowitz and Justin Allinson, kept Brookline at bay until the offense could get on track. When Wellesley’s offense did get going it was Brendan Dolan that spearheaded the attack as he netted a hat trick.
Teddy Darcey was brilliant in goal in turning away 22 shots. Liam Moran tallied the game-winning goal when he stole the puck and scored on a breakaway. Will Horblit and AJ Ranaldi also had strong games and potted a goal for the Raiders.
“This was a great group of players who played hard and unselfishly,” said coach Jason Crawshaw. “We saved the best for last.”
Other members of the Pee Wee A2 team that helped win the championship included Aidan Green, Luke Conti, Jack Crawshaw, Patrick Rourke, Owen O’Connor, Matty Behman, Henry Kapples, Joshua Mould, and Hugh Callahan. The team was coached by Jason Crawshaw and assisted by Bill Darcey and Bob Ranaldi.
