Dev. Academy preview: DC United, Baltimore Bays Chelsea in action ahead of …

Baltimore Bays Chelsea takes on FC Greater Boston in Development Academy action this weekend, while D.C. United travels north to face New York Cosmos Academy and Met Oval.

Bays Chelsea and United face each other the following week.

Patrick Koscher leads Bays Chelsea’s U-16s (7-1-1) with five goals, while two others–Babatunji Osifeso and Andrew Smith, have four each. FC Greater Boston is 4-2-2 overall. 

For Bays Chelsea’s U-18s (5-4-0), Christian Porras and Yaw Amankwa have four goals each to lead the team.

For D.C. United’s U-16s (4-4-1), they’re led by five-goal scorer Michael Seaton and Rafael Fagundo, who has four goals. Collin Martin leads United’s U-18s (3-3-3) with four goals.

Potomac FC’s U-18s (1-4-4), led by Ronald Ventura’s five goals, are in action this Sunday, hosting FC Greater Boston. Potomac’s U-16s (0-7-2) are looking for their first win, also facing FC Greater Boston.

It’s the busiest weekend of the Development Academy season to date, with 76 matches will be played.

Every academy team has played at least six matches this season, and some divisions are nearing the end of their seasons as teams look to make a spring run to qualify automatically for the playoffs.

Charlotte Soccer Academy (6-2-5, 4-0-2 Southeast Division) U-18s can make up some ground on first place, and idle, McLean Youth Soccer with a win over North Meck SC. CSA’s U-16s, meanwhile, will look to make gains on Virginia Rush while the Virginia side has downtime with the high school season. CSA, at 6-0-0 in the Southeast Division and 7-4-2 overall, takes on North Meck (5-4-4, 3-1-2). With a win, CSA can close to within two points of Rush.
