A Milton resident is the “most influential individual in Boston,” according to Boston magazine’s “The Power List,” a compilation of influential men and women in the Hub published Wednesday.
John Fish, chairman and CEO of Suffolk Construction, outranked other well-known individuals including Governor Duval Patrick and Attorney General Martha Coakley.
According to a news release about the list, Boston magazine editors spoke with “insiders” around the city to find powerful men and women in politics, business, cultural capital, and social networking. The names were then pared down to the top 50.
“Power, in the traditional sense of the word, means ‘influence,’ and that is exactly what we set to uncover,” Rick Waechter, CEO of Boston magazine, said.
In a paragraph about Fish, the magazine highlighted some of his accomplishments at Suffolk Construction as well as his relationship with Boston Mayor Thomas Menino.
According to the article, he is also involved in philanthropic work through his company’s Red Blue Foundation and the Boston Scholar Athlete Program.
Fish and others included on the list were honored at the magazine’s “Most Powerful Bostonian” event Tuesday night in Charlestown.
