Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 details leak, release date set

If there is one thing the video game playing community loves more than Call of Duty, it is churning out rumors about the next CoD title release. Well, it looks like it’s time to start up the ol’ rumor mill once again. This time, for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 details and even a release date.

What is obvious is that a sequel to the initial Black Ops title, launched in 2010, was inevitable and Treyarch would be the studio developing the game under the wing of Activision. Perhaps just as obvious, is that the game would be released sometime this year, probably around October or November. This brings me to rumor number one: the release date. Apparently, the game is expected to hit stores on November 6, 2012. This is right in tune with Black Ops‘ November 9th release. Remember the advertising campaign for Black Ops? Well, rumor has it that Black Ops 2 is going to be the largest that Activision has ran to date. I suppose they suspect the game to once a gain break sales records and bring in billions of dollars in revenue.

More than just a predictable release date have been “leaked,” however. Online players will see two game modes disappear, namely, Team Defender and Infected. Drop Zone and Kill Confirmed are said to be included in the Black Ops 2 playlist, a new game called Escort is making a franchise debut, and Hardcore modes will be available as well. Supposedly, fifty ranks are available, but for those who get off on climbing up through the Prestige ranks, you will have fifteen levels to work with. Every two levels grants a five rank increase and there is a level cap of ninety for Prestiges. In addition, Activision’s Elite service isn’t going anywhere, for those who subscribe. In fact, Elite 2.0 is expected to roll out with Black Ops 2 with Clan Tournament support.

As far as the game’s campaign is concerned, not much has been leaked. With Call of Duty, the replay value lays in online multiplayer. While Black Ops‘ story mode was “alright” and Modern Warfare 3‘s was “pretty good,” unless it is incredibly different than previous games, I don’t expect it to become a major focal point of the game.
