WOBURN, MA, ISSUED — LifeLine Ambulance Service (www.lifelineamb.com) has added a unique feature to its training center at its Woburn headquarters: a new, state-of-the-art, Ambulance Simulation Laboratory that will serve as the cornerstone for their in-facility EMT and Paramedic Training Center.

Brian J. Connor, President and CEO of LifeLine Ambulance Service, said that the lab was designed and built to replicate the interior of an ambulance, down to the last detail. As someone with more than 30 years’ direct experience in Emergency Medical Services (EMS), he said that the in-house simulation laboratory will prove invaluable for EMTs and Paramedics, and in particular, for those who are training to pursue a career in EMS.

“Think of it as you would a flight simulator when someone is learning to fly an airplane,” said Connor, who added, “In emergencies, seconds can make the difference, and we believe that replicating the conditions of an ambulance is key to training.” He continued, “There are differences between treating a patient in the field and in an ambulance, and this laboratory setting accounts for those differences.” The laboratory is equipped to simulate virtually every condition a medic would face in a real-life situation.

CEO Connor believes that his facility is the only one in New England to have this type of laboratory. In addition to refresher and training for LifeLine’s paramedics and EMTs, the simulator will be an integral part of LifeLine’s sister company, The LifeLine Institute for EMS Allied Health Professionals, which conducts classes to prepare students for careers as EMTs and Paramedics as well as a wide variety of programs for various medical professionals.
