Silver Lake towns come together to ‘Strike Out Breast Cancer’

Young baseball and softball players from all over the Silver Lake school district came together on Good Friday to help “Strike Out Breast Cancer.” The second annual event, held at the Pottle Street Fields in Kingston, was put together by the Kingston Youth Baseball and Softball League and the Bay State Bulldogs AAU baseball team.

Last year campers were asked to bring canned goods to the training session. The people responded with more than 3,000 cans that were donated to the Greater Boston Food Bank. This year the focus turned to cancer research as campers were encouraged to help “Strike Out Breast Cancer.”

The money raised from the camp, as well as the auction of several pieces of sports memorabilia,  will be donated to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. For more photos from the day, look for the photo gallery at www.wickedlocalkingston.com.
