Former Purdue stars JaJuan Johnson and E’Twaun Moore said they are hoping Robbie Hummel joins them as members of the Boston Celtics following June’s NBA Draft.

“It would be great for Robbie to be on a team where he has friends who already know the area and could show him around,” Moore said.

Johnson and Moore took part in a postgame question and answer session for sixty Purdue faithful at Purdue Alumni Night Wednesday at TD Garden in Boston following the Celtics’ win over the Magic.

Unlike the moderated question and answer session Johnson and Moore conducted following the Celtics game against the Indiana Pacers on January 14, everyone asked questions at random in the seating area of the arena.

Johnson opened the event put on by the Purdue Alumni Club of Greater Boston by asking the crowd whether all of them were really from the Boston area.

“I really got the impression that they were just excited and a little shocked to meet other Purdue alumni and Indiana natives in Boston,” 2006 Purdue alumna Dorina Mordkovich said.

Johnson and Moore said they were more star-struck by future Hall of Fame teammates in Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce than anyone else in the NBA.

Moore described the first couple of weeks of playing for the Celtics as being in total shock, but said they’ve adjusted and like their teammates now.

The event ended with the group, along with Johnson and Moore, singing “Hail Purdue.”

“The guys were super nice and I really felt like they enjoyed it too,” Mordkovich said. “They’ve had fans in Boston long before they got drafted by the Celtics and tonight they got to see just how many.”
