With two wins over the weekend, the New York Red Bulls’ Under-16 academy team extended its winning streak to 10 games, a run dating back to December.
The Red Bulls’ U-18 academy team also had a perfect weekend, as both squads defeated FC Greater Boston and New England Revolution. The Red Bulls’ U-18s beat FC Greater Boston 3-1, and toppled New England 2-1, while the U-16s beat FC Greater Boston 2-1 and New England, 5-2.
In a Great Lakes Division derby, Crew Soccer Academy Wolves Under-16s won their fourth game in a row, defeating Vardar SC Freiburg 3-0 Sunday, but the Chicago Fire claimed a share of the division lead after wins this weekend against Crew Soccer Academy and Internationals.
Both the Fire and CSA Wolves sport 5-0-1 division records. CSA Wolves are 11-0-2 overall, while the Fire are 9-2-2. Indiana United Fire Academy kept pace in the division, defeating FC Milwaukee 1-0. Indiana United Fire is 5-1-0 in the division and 7-5-1 overall.
The Chicago Fire’s U-18 academy squad also had a perfect weekend, winning against the same two teams as its U-16 counterparts.
D.C. United academy teams had their second-straight perfect weekend, coming away from its weekend road trip to New York with a clean sweep of FC Westchester and Albertson SC.
United’s U-16 and U-18 academy teams won by identical 2-1 scores Saturday. On Sunday, United’s U-18s shut out Albertson SC 1-0, while the U-16s came away with another 2-1 win.
Baltimore Bays Chelsea won three out of four on the weekend, with the U-18s defeating Albertson SC, while both the U-16s and U-18s beat FC Westchester.
The U-18s beat Albertson 2-1, while the U-16s lost by the same scoreline. On Sunday, Baltimore Bays Chelsea U-16s defeated FC Westchester Sunday, 4-1, while Bays Chelsea’s U-18s beat FC Westchester 3-0.
