The final piece of the deconstruction of the Memorial Bridge will be completed on Saturday night when the north span is transported to East Boston.
According to Carol Morris, a spokesperson with Archer Western Contractors, the Cape Cod barge will transport the north span from Portsmouth Harbor to a metal recycling facility in the Greater Boston area on Saturday beginning at 6 p.m.
Morris said seas and winds are expected to become more favorable on Saturday afternoon, which will make it easier for Archer Western Contractors to transport the north span.
The middle lift span and south span were previously floated out and transported to the Greater Boston area where they were sold for scrap metal.
For avid bridge watchers, it will be another windy, cold day with temperatures falling into the 40s by the time the north span leaves Portsmouth Harbor.
