The following is a press release from the Arlington Trojans. It has been lightly edited.
The Arlington Trojans will be hosting an open tryout Saturday, May 19, from noon to 2 p.m., at Summer Street Park in Arlington.
The Trojans compete in the Intercity League, a wood-bat baseball league that showcases some of the most talented collegiate and amateur baseball players in the Greater Boston area.
Getting ready to enter his third season as head coach of the Arlington Trojans, Joe Hart has been working all off-season to put together an extremely competitive baseball team that hopes to make a run at the ICL title. Last year the Trojans finished with an 11-19-2 record, just missing the playoffs.
The roster currently consists of colligate players, former professionals and even some high school hopefuls who have the desire to play baseball at very competitive level.
With a few openings still left on the roster, players 18 years and older are encouraged to come down to Summer Street Park and showcase their talent as returning players and the entire coaching staff will be in attendance. If you are not 18, but at least a senior in high school looking to further your baseball career, please feel free to come down tryout.
The schedule consists of 30 regular season games that are played from June to August. The Trojans play their home games on Friday nights at 7 p.m. and on weekends at Summer Street. Away games are played throughout the rest of the week starting no earlier than 6 p.m.
