LifeLine Ambulance Service introduces the “Ambulette” to the market; now the largest provider in Massachusetts!
WOBURN, MA, – LifeLine Ambulance Service (www.lifelineamb.com), has just introduced a medical transportation alternative to the healthcare system, called the “Ambulette.” Rarely used in MA, LifeLine now becomes the largest “ambulette” provider, adding 12 ambulettes to its current fleet of over 100 vehicles.
The “ambulette” is a medically-outfitted van capable of transporting patients in wheelchairs and now stretchers. These patients are ideally not in need of medical attention but due to their lack of mobility cannot sit for long periods in a wheelchair and must be able to lie down during the transport.
Ambulettes are smaller in size than an ambulance and do not carry the same medical equipment or have the same level of medical training. This new service now enables the patient a less expensive mode of transport rather than travel by ambulance. It is a choice for individuals and healthcare institutions that require patient transport that can occur safely without the full service of an ambulance.
“Our ambulettes provide the same uncompromising commitment to patient safety as all our fleet transport vehicles,” said Brian J. Connor, CEO of LifeLine Ambulance Service. He also stated that the LifeLine staff who run the Ambulettes are First Aid and CPR certified and undergo the same intense training scrutiny and inspections as all LifeLine employees including a comprehensive drive training program.
He said that the difference between an ambulette and ambulance transport for a patient or institution is the cost. “For the individual who does not require all the services of a full ambulance, this level provides the basics and is a more economical way for transportation.” Connor stated this level of service is a pathway to the future in an ever changing health care environment.
