Tewksbury Boy Found Safe, Sister Faces Criminal Charges

TEWKSBURY (CBS) – A 22-year-old woman is facing criminal charges over the disappearance of a 14-year-old Tewksbury boy. The boy, Anthony McNeil, was found safe Friday night, more than 24 hours after his father reported him missing.

Police have charged Elenie Vazquez of Chelmsford, Anthony McNeil’s biological sister, with Custodial Kidnapping and Misleading a Police Officer.

Officials did not provide any specific details on the circumstances surrounding Vazquez’s arrest.

McNeil, an 8th grader at the Wynn School told his father on Thursday that he was going to walk over to a Tewksbury baseball field and watch the games, but wasn’t there when his father came to pick him up.

McNeil’s disappearance prompted a search and investigation that involved Tewksbury Police, State Police, the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office, the FBI, the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, and several other agencies.

During the search, police noted that McNeil was adopted and has recently been trying to reach out to some of his biological siblings in the greater Boston area through Facebook.
