Beginning in July, the YMCA of Greater Boston will move its English for Speakers of Other Languages program from its historic Huntington Avenue branch to a new location in Government Center.
In a recent announcement, the YMCA explained that the move would allow its International Learning Center to continue its classes without interruption as the Huntington Avenue branch undergoes a major renovation. The new location also brings the learning center closer to YMCA Training Inc., its job-training affiliate organization located on Tremont Street.
“This is an exciting opportunity for the International Learning Center,” said Anne Meyerson, executive director of education and training for the YMCA of Greater Boston, in the announcement. “The new, convenient location allows us to build capacity and expand our course offerings to English language learners in the city of Boston and beyond.”
Summer classes will begin at the new site, on the ninth floor of 3 Center Plaza, across Cambridge Street from City Hall Plaza, on July 2 and run to Aug. 24. In addition to the English classes, this summer’s program also includes a series of workshops on pronunciation, job readiness, and advanced writing.
English classes are available from Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. or 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Evening classes meet Monday – Thursday from 6 – 9 p.m. for more information, visit
