Waltham hosts tax compliance camp

The Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce holds a free informational session on the new Chamber HealthCare Co-op on June 27 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the chamber conference room, 11 Florence St., Marlborough. If you are a businesses with 50 or fewer full-time employees (those working 30 or more hours a week), you can now buy discounted health insurance through this program. Snowboard maker leases space in Hopkinton
A Canadian-based seller of snowboards recently leased nearly 10,000 square feet of space in downtown Hopkinton for distribution of its products, according to Greater Boston Commercial Properties, which helped broker the lease. The company, Snowjam Snowboards LLC, will move to the Hopkinton site at 34 Hayden Rowe from a smaller space on Eliot Street in Ashland, according to a statement from Bret O’Brien of Greater Boston Commercial Properties, which represented the owner of the Hopkinton building. Snowjam was represented by Rick Kaplan of RE/MAX Executive Realty’s commercial division, according to the Worcester Business Journal.
Boston health summit to honor Smith and Owens
Two Framingham residents, Dr. Philip Smith, a podiatrist at the Whittier Street Health Center in Boston, and Edward Owens, president and CEO of Owners Movers in Everett, will be honored with a Health Champions Award on June 30 at the Whittier Street Health Center’s Men’s Health Summit. Smith and Owens are being honored for their commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle. The summit takes place from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Whittier Street Health Center, 1290 Tremont St., Roxbury. Babson students launch businesses
As part of a required course, first-year Babson College students are given the assignment to develop a business model for a team of 30 individuals to run through the spring semester. For the first time, this year’s 18 businesses include services and products in the social entrepreneurship arena. The Foundations of Management and Entrepreneurship (FME) course is a seven-credit, yearlong immersion into the world of business in which student teams invent, develop, launch, manage and liquidate a business. Since the program began in 1999, nearly $400,000 has been donated by FME businesses to local charities. Babson is in Wellesley.
Westborouugh’s TTA partners with Birthday Wishes
The Training Associates (TTA), the largest provider of learning and development consultants and solutions in the United States, recently partnered with the nonprofit organization, Birthday Wishes, to assist in making hundreds of birthday “goodie-bags” for underprivileged children who may not receive any birthday gifts. The Training Associates is in Westborough.
