City Sports Named Boston’s Best for Sporting Goods by The Improper Bostonian

BOSTON, July 17, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ —
City Sports has been named to The Improper Bostonian’s 2012 Boston’s Best list, winning top honors for sporting goods in the Goods and Services category.

The list, which is voted on by a panel of over 40 judges, annually recognizes the best restaurants, retailers and services in the greater Boston area across seven categories. The judging panel is comprised of local business owners, celebrities and the Improper’s editorial team, and this year included Celtics CEO Wyc Grousbeck, JL Men’s Creative Director Jeff Lahens and Top Chef’s Tiffani Faison, executive chef at Sweet Cheeks.

“We’re honored to be recognized by The Improper Bostonian as the best sporting goods retailer in Boston this year,” said City Sports President and CEO Jeff Connor. “As a company that was born in Boston and thrives off its energy, we’re thrilled to see our continued commitment to local consumers acknowledged by an outlet that has its hand to the pulse of what makes this city so spectacular.”

Notorious for its specially curated selection of apparel and equipment for the urban athlete, City Sports features the best in running, swim, cycling, yoga and training gear. The retailer also offers specially trained staff to offer expert, activity-specific assistance for all customers, with services ranging from gait analysis and racquet stringing, and activities including boot camps and the brand’s popular Run Club series that are open to the public.

City Sports had a big year in New England, opening new stores in Burlington, Vt. and Wellesley, Mass. in the last 12 months. The brand also unveiled its signature women’s shopping experience at its flagship store on Boylston Street last fall, which has started to roll out at City Sports’ 21 retail locations nationwide.
