Hotel occupancy in Sacramento rose incrementally by 0.2 percent, according to the latest industry trend report. Occupancy was 68.9 percent in May, compared to 68.7 percent in the year-earlier period. Room rates dropped slightly.

Hotel occupancy in Sacramento rose incrementally by 0.2 percent, according to the latest industry trend report from PKF Consulting USA 


. Occupancy was 68.9 percent in May, compared to 68.7 percent in the year-earlier period.

Hotels had an average daily room rate of $94.90 in May, compared to $96.15 in the year-earlier period, for a decrease of 1.3 percent.

Sacramento hotels also saw a resulting drop in revenue available per room of 1.1 percent, going to $65.36 from $66.10 from May 2011.

In comparison, San Francisco saw revenue per room rise 2.6 percent from the year-earlier period. San Francisco Airport hotel revenue rose more dramatically to 13.3 percent compared to last year. San Jose was up 7.7 percent and Oakland was up 7.5 percent. The overall average for Northern California hotels was 5.2 percent, according to San Francisco-based PKF.

For the first five months of the year, Sacramento was down 0.5 percent for the average daily rate, to $93.98. Occupancy for the same period was 66.8 percent, which was up 3.7 percent from the same time in 2011. Revenue per available room was also better than last year, at $62.82 or up 3.1 percent.
