Stop & Shop sponsors healthy living event

QUINCY, Mass. — Supermarket chain Stop Shop encouraged healthy lifestyles among children with an interactive event in Boston Tuesday.

The Ahold USA-owned chain’s Healthy Kids Summit, which took place at Fenway Park, included a panel discussion with Red Sox left fielder Daniel Nava, YMCA of Greater Boston executive director of healthy living Joann Donnelly, Boston Public Health Commission medical director Huy Nguyen and others. The event, which drew more than 200 people, was designed to educate parents, caregivers and children on nutrition and exercise. The panel discussion included a trivia game, followed by a Zumba fitness routine and a health fair.

“For many families, healthy eating habits begin at home, which is why Stop Shop is continuously seeking ways to positively impact the well-being of the people in the communities in which we serve,” Stop Shop New England division spokeswoman Suzi Robinson said. “We are committed to helping our customers make beneficial decisions while shopping, and are excited to bring together these great community leaders today in an effort to inspire the Boston community and beyond.”
