North Shore Medical Center (NSMC) has been named to the U. S. News and World Report list of the 24 best hospitals in Massachusetts, joining Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in receiving the honor.
NSMC also received regional accolades from the magazine, earning a Best Hospitals designation in the Greater Boston rankings, and was designated as a high-performing hospital in both Geriatrics and Pulmonology based on clinical quality data like patient survival, safety and volume.
NSMC is the only North Shore hospital on both lists.
“To be in the company of some of the nation’s finest academic and specialty institutions speaks volumes about the quality of care we are providing at NSMC,” said Robert Norton, president and CEO of NSMC. “These honors are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our physicians, nurses and healthcare staff, and I could not be more proud to share this recognition with them.”
Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) was named the top hospital in the United States. Because of the deep clinical collaboration between MGH and NSMC, much of Mass General’s expertise is available locally at NSMC, and at the Mass General/North Shore Center for Outpatient Care in Danvers.
In addition, several other Partners HealthCare hospitals were named to the national and regional lists. Brigham and Women’s Hospital was selected as No. 9 in the country. On the Massachusetts list, Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and North Shore Medical Center, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, McLean Hospital and Newton-Wellesley Hospital were all named as Best Hospitals.
