Greater Boston no hipster heaven, apparently

Brookline is more desirable than most of Cambridge, and absolutely more desirable than any part of Somerville. None of them are “hip.” Somerville is a run-down eyesore where college kids or recent grads go to live merely because they can afford to and only if they live near the Cambridge/Somerville border can walk/bike/subway to Cambridge. The closest area that Boston has that could be considered even remotely hip may be a narrow strip of the South End with the bars and restaurants, and even that is a stretch.

Brookline, hip?

HAHAAHHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA Sure.

When my painfully hipster brother visited from Brooklyn, it was not on his list.

What was on his list? Somerville, Cambridge, JP and South Boston. Using he and his dorky thick glasses as a barometer- those places are the capitols of cool locally.

Salem was as well- apparently has a churnig underbelly of hipster action we are all unaware of…

Does Brookline have food trucks? Because I’m not sure if you can be considered “hip” without them!

Brookline isn’t hip. It’s where pretentious yuppies go to reproduce and strut about self-importantly with their $1,000 designer strollers.

That’s the antithesis of hip.

I live in Brookline and the only places I go out to are The Publick House and Coolidge Corner Theater(both are great places). Brookline is a nice place to live but there is little nightlife.

Sounds more like they are describing Allston. There is no youthful (under 40) night life in Brookline police would not allow it. Brookline is more a place for families because the schools are so good.. there were some funky stores but they closed.
