Smart Lunches (www.smartlunches.com), the Boston-based online meal service that provides nutritious lunches to kids and convenience to their parents, announced today it has acquired Smart Snax, a successful three year-old healthy vending machine business operating in Greater Boston.
Smart Snax’s dual-temperature vending machines are currently stocked with natural and organic snacks and drinks in public and private schools and YMCAs in Greater Boston, including Brooks School, Gann Academy, Our Lady Academy, Triton Regional High School and the YMCA of Greater Lynn. “When I first learned of Smart Lunches, I instantly saw the synergy between the two companies: we both want to give kids a healthy option in their food choices and make it easy for them to adopt healthy eating habits that will stick with them through adulthood. Smart Lunches will be able to provide healthy options to students and staff at its partner schools all day long by stocking its vending units with fresh fruit, vegetables and yogurt in the cold sections and natural and organic snacks in the room temperature sections. Smart Snax currently offers natural and organic snacks by brands such as Back to Nature, Barbara’s Bakery, KIND Bars, LÄRABAR, popchips, Stacy’s Pita Chips as well as drinks by Apple Eve and Sanpellegrino.
Smart Lunches will be adding vending machines to the numerous facilities it is already working with as well as establishing new relationships at new locations. More nutritional choices will be added complementing Smart Lunches’ value proposition of providing nutritional meals and snacks to children in the most convenient manner.
