Welcome to Visions for Vacancies, a Patch feature and a place where you can weigh in with your ideas about what kind of businesses you’d like to see occupying empty storefronts around Newton.
Each week, we’ll highlight a vacant building, storefront or structure around the city. Then, we’ll leave it you, the Newton community, to sound off on what you’d like to see there.
This week we’re at 81 Union Street in Newton Centre, the former Big Picture Framing location.
This empty storefront, which is above the Sapporo Japanese Korean Restaurant, is in the Newton Centre shopping district. With the Newton Centre MBTA station just across the street, there is plenty of food traffic.
Recently, The Improper Bostonian named Newton Centre shopping as the “best fashion secret.”
There are a number of parking options in the Newton Centre area, including metered municipal lots, metered street parking and some free street parking on side streets.
What do you think should go in this vacant storefront? Share your ideas in the comments section below.
