TRURO — A man bitten by a great white shark last month while swimming off a Cape Cod beach has returned to the scene.
But he did not go in the water.
The Cape Cod Times reported that Christopher Myers, whose legs were injured in the July 30 attack, was greeted by several people who recognized him at Ballston Beach in Truro.
Myers, a native of Greater Boston who lives in Denver, has been visiting relatives before returning home.
He chatted with well-
wishers and had his picture taken at the beach he has called his favorite.
Jennifer Beke of Westfield, N.J., snapped a picture of Myers with her children. ‘‘He’s kind of a local hero,’’ she said.
Myers had 47 stitches and surgery to repair damaged tendons and still wears a cast on one leg.
