Volunteers needed at the Landlocked Forest on Saturday, Sept. 8

Volunteers needed at The Landlocked Forest, Burlington, Saturday, Sept. 8, 9-11 a.m. rain or shine. Parking at the Turning Mill Road entrance in Lexington. Friends of the Landlocked Forest, Burlington Conservation, and the Greater Boston Chapter of New England Mountain Bike Association have teamed up to hold a good, old-fashioned, tire clean-up. For many years, tires were carelessly dumped in and around the wetlands at the Landlocked Forest. This unsightly trash is also potentially hazardous to the environment, as chemicals leach from the tires and into the water. It is time to do something about it and your help is needed in getting the tires out of the forest. Bring your boots. Bring your work gloves. Bring your altruistic attitude and come work with good friends. Tires will be rolled, carried, or otherwise transported to an awaiting truck which will take them to their ultimate recycled destination. Contact Burlington Conservation, 781-270-1655.
