The Residence Inn by Marriott will celebrate its grand opening Thursday night in Chelsea.

The $15 million five-story hotel at 200 Maple St. offers 128 suites that feature full kitchens, separate sleeping, living and work spaces, as well as an indoor heated saltwater pool, fitness center and wireless internet access and a pets-allowed policy.

Room rates range from $199 to $239 per night. The property is one of only two hotels in Chelsea and the first new hotel to open in more than a decade. Wyndham Boston Chelsea opened in 2000 with 180 rooms.

Colwen Hotel Management has invited the Greater Boston hospitality and tourism community to tour the new property and meet staff and community members.

“The hotel’s opening is part of a larger development boom in Chelsea,” said Jay Ash, Chelsea’s city manager. “The hotel makes an important statement to everyone driving by that Chelsea is in the midst of a remarkable run of rejuvenation, and the good news is we’re not even close to being done.”

Patrick Moscaritolo, president CEO of the Greater Boston Convention Visitors Bureau said the Marriott is an important addition to the Boston area hotel marketplace. It will offer another option for visitors to the region. “The fact that a Marriott hotel has opened next to a Wyndham hotel in Chelsea demonstrates tremendous growth in the Boston tourism market and in Chelsea,” he said.
