Builders course to be offered in Framingham
The Builders Association of Greater Boston (BAGB) has announced its upcoming session for the builders licensing course, which prepares builders, remodelers and other professionals for the Massachusetts Construction Supervisors Licensing Exam. The course will be offered at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel, 1657 Worcester Road, (Rte. 9 west), Framingham, Oct. 17 through Dec. 5. The course meets seven weeks, one night a week on Wednesdays from 7 to 10 p.m. Those interested should visit bagb.org. The fee is $275 for BAGB members and $375 for non-members, plus the cost of the code books if the student does not have them.

Domar to speak at Natick Mall
Sudbury resident Ali Domar, an internationally celebrated speaker and author in the field of mind/body medicine and women’s health, and leader of the Domar Center in Waltham, will offer insights on self-nurturance, strategies to decrease stress and recommendations for behavioral changes to enhance sleep on Oct. 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. as part of the Tempur-Pedic Celebrity Speaker Series in the atrium at the Natick Mall, 1245 Worcester St. (Rte. 9 west), Natick. Admission is free.

Brown, Perlman named to Babson Hall of Fame
The Babson College Alumni Entrepreneur Hall of Fame’s newest members are Jeffrey Brown ’86, founder, president and CEO of Brown’s Super Store Inc., and Alberto Perlman ’98, co-founder and CEO of Zumba Fitness LLC. Established in 2008 during the inauguration of Babson President Leonard Schlesinger, the Hall of Fame celebrates alumni who distinguish themselves in entrepreneurial endeavors in all types of enterprises. Alumni entrepreneurs are also recognized for their accomplishments in creating economic and social value. They will be honored during the Hall of Fame dinner on Oct. 19 at 6:30 p.m. in Babson’s Knight Auditorium. Also honored will be “Rising Star” entrepreneurs who have founded or co-founded high-potential businesses less than 10 years old that are making an impact and generating media attention in the marketplace. Babson is in Wellesley.

Tilly Salvy’s hosts pumpkin festival
Tilly Salvy’s Bacon Street Farm, 100 Bacon St., Natick, hosts its 12th annual Pumpkin Festival Haunted House to benefit Natick public schools on Oct. 21 from 2 to 5 p.m. with additional Haunted House hours from 7 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 27. In addition, Haunted House proceeds will be donated to the Natick Drama Workshop. The event features live music from the Van Buren Boys band, crafts, activities, bounce houses, a haunted house, a Halloween display, food samples and a large pumpkin-strewn field.

Avidia Bank to hold cancer fundraiser
Avidia Bank’s Relay For Life Team, in conjunction with JJ’s Sports Bar and Grill, holds a fundraising event, Rockin’ Out Cancer, to benefit the American Cancer Society at J J’s Sports Bar and Grill, 380 Southwest Cutoff, Northborough, on Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m. The event features two bands, Sullivan Studio and Heavy Horses, as well as a raffle and door prizes. The cover charge is $10. Headquartered in Hudson, Avidia has branch offices in Hudson, Westborough, Clinton, Leominster, Marlborough, Northborough and Shrewsbury.

Dentist to hold Halloween candy buy-back event
Taking a stand against excess sugar this Halloween, Dr. Stephen Raisman of Framingham Dental Center will give local trick-or-treaters a chance to trade in their candy for prizes and give a boost to our nation’s troops next month. On Nov. 3, youngsters can bring their Halloween candy to the 1283 Old Worcester Road office and exchange their treats for a chance to win an iPod Touch and other prizes, receive a goodie bag and meet the Tooth Fairy. As part of “Operation Gratitude,” Raisman will send the collected treats to U.S. military troops around the globe. Other door prizes include children’s Sonicare toothbrushes courtesy of Framingham Dental Center, as well as gifts from local businesses including The Learning Express of Sudbury, Snip-its of Framingham and Friendly’s. Natick to host Joey O’Donnell Film Premiere
Joe and Kathy O’Donnell hold the 28th annual Joey O’Donnell Film Premiere on Nov. 4 starting with a food-filled reception in the Neiman Marcus Court at the Natick Mall, 1245 Worcester St. (Rte. 9 west), Natick, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The screening of a holiday blockbuster at AMC Theatres Framingham takes place immediately after the reception. Local restaurants participating in the event include Alta Strada, Porcini’s, Not Your Average Joe’s, Cactus Club, Off the Vine, Fig’s, Cheesecake Factory, The Kowloon, Zaftig and Sel de la Terre. The event expects to raise more than $750,000 for cystic fibrosis (CF) research. The O’Donnells started The Joey Fund in 1986 when their son Joey passed away after his battle with CF.
