OC Woman Stabbed Repeatedly While Jogging

ROSSMOOR (CBSLA.com) — An Orange County woman was stabbed multiple times while she was jogging Tuesday night in what police called a “random attack.”

The incident happened just after 9 p.m. in Rossmoor on the 3200 block of Bostonian Drive.

The suspect, described as a thin, 20-something Hispanic man wearing dark clothes and a baseball cap, grabbed the 28-year-old woman from behind and stabbed her.

The victim managed to knock the knife out of his hands, but he apparently pushed her to the ground.

The suspect then stabbed her three times in the face, hand, and neck.

A neighbor heard the woman’s screams and ran to help her as the suspect fled on a black, BMX bike.

Police said the suspect did not try to sexually assault the victim or rob her, even when she threw her IPod at him, according to CBS2’s Stacey Butler.

Resident John Prussel said he’s convinced he saw the suspect 12 minutes after the attack, about a mile away.

“He just looked agitated. Like, he needed to go somewhere,” he said. “He was sweaty, strung out, and really, kind of antsy. I saw this person on foot, which makes me believe he ditched the bike before he left the Rossmoor area.”

The victim is expected to make a full recovery.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department is scheduled to release a sketch of the suspect on Thursday.
