OC Jogger Stabbed Arrest

ROSSMOOR (CNS) A suspect sought in connection with the stabbing of a 28-year-old woman who was attacked while jogging in the unincorporated community of Rossmoor was arrested today, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

The 18-year-old suspect was taken into custody around 7:45 p.m. at a Rossmoor house where he lives with his parents, according to CBS2.

A sheriff’s department watch commander confirmed that an arrest had been made, but provided no other details.

“We’ve been conducting a non-stop investigation for two days and we’ve had over 20 people out here with some of our best investigators trying to get some good leads in this case and I think we got some tonight and that has led us to this residence here, and we have a suspect and he’s in custody right now and we are questioning him,” Lt. Mike Gavin of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department told CSB2 at the scene.

The jogger was grabbed from behind and stabbed three times at 9:11 p.m. Tuesday as she jogged in the 3200 block of Bostonian Drive, the department’s Jim Amormino said.

The woman, who was released from the hospital on Wednesday, knocked the knife out of the assailant’s hand after the first stab wound was inflicted, but he managed to knock her down and stab her two more times, Amormino said.

The woman was stabbed in the face, an arm and hand, Amormino said.

Upon hearing her screaming, a resident of the community rushed outside, and the assailant fled on a BMX bicycle, Amormino said.

It was unclear what motivated the attack.

A neighbor of the suspect said the suspect would ride a BMX bike in the neighborhood, according to CBS2, which reported that investigators tonight were awaiting a warrant to search the house where the young man lives.
