The sold-out third annual Mystery Dine Around, held on Friday, Sept. 28 to benefit Hospice of the North Shore Greater Boston, raised a record amount of more than $25,000. This is the third year that Salem Waterfront Hotel Marina has hosted this event, with the support of a dozen of the North Shore’s finest restaurants. In the event’s inaugural year, North Shore Medical Center was the beneficiary.
More than 150 guests attended the event, which began at the Salem Waterfront Hotel Marina’s Regatta Pub for a VIP reception and hors d’oeuvres. Following the reception, guests were assigned and transported via trolley and bus to a “Mystery Dining” destination.
Through the generous support of the North Shore’s finest restaurants, guests were treated to dinner at the following restaurants: 62 Restaurant Wine Bar, Adriatic Restaurant and Bar, Capt’s Waterfront Grill, Finz Seafood Grill, 43 Church – Salem, Jack-Tar American Tavern, Red Rock Bistro Bar, Caffe Italia, Victoria Station – Salem, Red Lulu Cocina Tequila Bar, The Blue Ox Restaurant Bar, and E.J. Cabot’s and Salem Waterfront Hotel and Marina. Guests returned to the Salem Waterfront Hotel Marina Ballroom for dancing, a dessert buffet and a live auction, led by Billy Costa, host of NECN’s “TV Diner” and KISS 108 radio personality.
“The Salem Waterfront Hotel Marina was proud to host Mystery Dine Around and support Hospice of the North Shore Greater Boston,” said Michael Rockett, owner of Salem Waterfront Hotel Marina. “With the support of our generous guests, participating restaurants and corporate sponsors Sound City Entertainment and North Shore Shuttle, we were able to exceed the amount raised last year.”
Rockett added, “The community support for this event, from our sponsors to our generous auction donors, has been tremendous. The management and staff at Salem Waterfront Hotel Marina and partner restaurants gave 100 percent to host this event and support this benevolent, non-profit organization.”
According to Elizabeth Macomber, vice president for philanthropy at Hospice of the North Shore Greater Boston, funds raised at the event will assist with important client services.
“Hospice of the North Shore Greater Boston is so grateful to be the beneficiary of the Salem Waterfront Hotel and Marina’s annual Mystery Dine Around event,” said Macomber. “The Salem Waterfront Hotel, Billy Costa and Michael and Tricia Rockett have been so generous to make this evening special and fun. The funds that are raised help cover the costs of innovative programs and services that enhance the quality of life for terminally ill patients and their loved ones.”
