The Medford Transcript caught up with Coach Perry as she prepares her team for post-season play.
How does it feel to be Greater Boston League champs?
Amazing. I am so proud of the way our team has battled through to win the league and finish the regular season with a 10-4-3 record. This is the fourth year in a row we have won the GBL.
Was this season anything you anticipated?
We started the season a little slow but have really picked up our intensity in the past few weeks. We played a tough schedule this year and the girls have really adapted well.
What is the team’s mindset as they prepare for the state tournament?
The girls are focused on playing together, communicating and finishing.
What’s the farthest Medford has gone in the tourney?
In the history of the program the farthest we have gone is the quarterfinals. My first two years we lost in the first round. Last year we lost in the quarterfinals to North Andover.
What can fans expect come tourney time?
The girls are really starting to play together with confidence and improving with every game.
The Mustangs take on Concord-Carlisle, in the first round of the Division I State Tournament, Saturday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m.
