More than 250 women business and community leaders from Wellesley and the greater Boston area are expected to attend the 4th Smith Center for Women’s Cancers Executive Council, Beyond Boston Luncheon on Thursday, Nov. 15 from noon to 2 p.m.
The luncheon is aimed at raising awareness and providing insight into the research that is happening at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the executive council’s financial support, according to the Institute. Since 2004, the executive council has raised more than $9 million to fund early stage research in breast and ovarian cancers and has educated women about issues that affect their health.
The theme for this year’s program is “Mothers, Daughters, Sisters, and Wives: What we all need to know about women’s cancers.”
The luncheon will be held at the Wellesley Country Club, 300 Wellesley Avenue in Wellesley, and will include presentations and discussions by top Dana-Farber associates.
Dr. Ann Partridge,, founder and director of the Program for Young Women with Breast Cancer at Dana-Farber, will lead a conversation about the unique challenges young women at risk for and living with breast cancer face. Dr. Partridge will also moderate a panel discussion featuring Dr. Eric Winer, Dana-Farber’s chief of breast oncology; Dr. Judy Garber,, director of the Center for Cancer Genetics and Prevention; and Dr. Jennifer Ligibel, a breast cancer oncologist.
