Greater Boston Food Bank Brings Food To Veterans

BOSTON (CBS) – It’s a chance for volunteers to give back to those that have served the country.

The Greater Boston Food Bank’s mobile outreach unit and the Department of Veterans Services gave out thousands of pounds of fresh produce to hundreds of veterans at Bunker Hill Community College Monday morning.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030′s Kim Tunnicliffe reports

Each family received 20 to 25 pounds of fresh food and vegetables.

Volunteers from the Greater Boston Food Bank say they look forward to this event each year because it is a way to give back to those that have served the country.

Veteran Daryl Henry is a former Marine. He says the support makes the holidays a little easier.

“It means a great deal when you’re trying to make ends meet,” Henry said. “Food is expensive.”
