Hospice of the North Shore Greater Boston joined with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners to celebrate National Nurse Practitioner Week in November. This recognition week provided an opportunity to celebrate these exceptional health care providers and to remind the public that there are more than 155,000 nurse practitioners in the United States who provide high-quality, cost-effective, comprehensive and patient-centered care to patients across the country.
“Our NPs play an integral role within our organization helping patients with acute pain and symptom management, providing palliative care consultations, facilitating goals of care and having advance directive conversations with patients and their families,” said the Hospice’s Director of Palliative Care, Sue Parker, GNP-BC, ACHPN.
During National Nurse Practitioners Week, the Hospice recognized the efforts of seven nurse practitioners on staff including Danvers residents and Hospice of the North Shore Greater Boston Nurse Practitioners Patricia Houde and Susan Parker.
