The large winter storm that dropped inches of snow in the Medford is now headed towards the northeast, although no snow accumulation is expected in the Greater Boston area.
According to the National Weather Service’s latest forecast, several inches of snow are expected to fall in the western part of the state on Wednesday night, but with temperatures hitting a low of 32 degrees in Medford and reaching a high of 45 on Thursday, the snow is expected to change over to rain or icy rain in the city.
The National Weather Services has issued both a hazardous weather outlook and a high wind watch for the Greater Boston area Wednesday night into Thursday. Winds heading northeast could reach 40 mph with gusts up to 55 mph, with potential to bring down power lines.
“Winds of this magnitude could down trees and tree limps, power lines and holiday decorations,” the advisory reads. “Numerous power outages and minor property damange is possible.”
Another large storm is expected to move into the region over the weekend, but forecasters expect it to avoid hitting the city.
