YMCA of Greater Boston to expand college prep program with Raytheon donation

The funds will help expand the course’s 15-week College Path curriculum to more than 200 students in three Boston public high schools. Currently, the program serves 50 youths, according to the YMCA.

“Students are faced with many difficult decisions during their first year of college, and we know that being successful in college remains a challenge,” David Wilkins, vice president of Contracts and Supply Chain for Raytheon, said in a statement. “We’ve seen first-hand the power of this program and its successes with Raytheon’s mentees, and we want to ensure that the Y can reach as many students as possible. It’s an honor to help the Y Achievers Program grow and, with it, our Boston youth.”

In addition to the College Path program, the money from the Waltham-based company will help support the Young Achievers Summer Institute and The YMCA Achievers Annual College and Career Fair.
