Digital billboards from Clear Channel Outdoor feature snow emergency info from …

Billboard company Clear Channel Outdoor said that the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency has been using its seven digital billboards in Greater Boston to display real-time information to motorists about the big weekend storm and its fall-out on traffic conditions.

This is the first time that MEMA has utilized digital billboards for a statewide emergency, Clear Channel Outdoor said.

“The digital technology allows MEMA to adapt its messages in real-time to changing situations, providing a significant boost to its public safety effort, and offer Massachusetts residents another way to get information, the company said, adding that Clear Channel Outdoor is making the digital signs available to MEMA at no cost.

The digital billboards in Greater Boston are located along I-93 in Medford and Stoneham and along Route 495 in Lawrence, the company said.

Those digital billboards first went live in November 2010, said Clear Channel Outdoor, which has an inventory of about 1,700 billboards in Massachusetts.
