Tyler Seguin is the Cover Boy for The Improper Bostonian

Ladies of Boston, take note: Tyler Seguin of the Boston Bruins says he is very single.

That’s just one of many revelations from his interview in the newest issue of The Improper Bostonian magazine, where he is also featured on the cover just in time for Valentine’s Day and the magazine’s annual Bachelor/Ette features. He also talks about a Playboy model he briefly dated and squashes the persistent rumors that he’s going out with pretty much every female Boston University student, too.

But the interview isn’t all about Seguin’s love life. He also dispels with other rumors related to his cleanliness while living in Switzerland during the NHL lockout, saying that a maid was approached by the tabloid that ran the article and exaggerated details for money.

However, he did try to do more cooking while he was in Europe, played poker with his teammates and saw movies a lot. Usually, the movies were in Swiss German, but sometimes he’d luck out and get English. He’d also occasionally get calls saying that he should prepare for an end to the lockout, only to have those calls end up as false alarms.

Now that the big show is back on, Seguin is back to his pregame routines–salmon with honey, both the night before and the day of a game, although I presume he means with a glaze instead of just drizzling straight honey onto fish, though who knows? Plus, he likes to eat peanut butter and jelly, though on bagels instead of normal bread, which is kind of a twist on one of Sidney Crosby‘s routines. Sometimes, he’ll treat himself to buffalo wings.

But he bucks the trend of superstitions by doing things differently after good games, like wearing a different pair of gloves the next time.

He names Zdeno Chara and Shawn Thornton as tough players on his team, says he doesn’t like to play against Zenon Konopka (which he won’t need to do this season since Konopka is in the Western Conference), opens up about a time when he taped Brad Marchand‘s shoes together, names Steve Yzerman his greatest player of all time and tries to tally up just how many pictures there are of him with the Stanley Cup. His mom has quite a few of them framed back home in Brampton, Ontario, where apparently nothing happens except some shootings now and then.

Some pictures that will never see the light of day, though, depicted Seguin in a hotel shower with the Stanley Cup. He says they were deleted within minutes, although that begs the question: who took them?

He proudly declares that all his teeth are his, no fakes, and talks about when he had a painful knuckle injury at the end of last season. I remember when he had surgery on the injury after the Bruins were booted out of the playoffs and his hand swelled up enormously.

For a 21-year-old, Seguin has some expensive taste: Breitling watches, Zara cologne, Maserati car and being a clothes horse at Saks, Neiman Marcus and Barneys. But then he does earn a lot from his paychecks, so he can do with it what he likes.

This story is sure to get Seguin some ribbing and teasing from his teammates in the locker room. For reference, see how Patrice Bergeron was teased when he was featured on the cover of The Improper Bostonian back in 2008:

But it’s all in good fun. Now if only Seguin can improve his quick release, which he touts as one of his strongest characteristics, to put the puck in the net a little more often.
