Boston conventions proceed as scheduled

Some Boston businesses and attractions in the area of the Boston Marathon finish line remained closed Wednesday, although most of the city was open and operating, according to the Greater Boston Convention Visitors Bureau.

Boston tourism officials report very few cancellations by individuals or groups.

The 2,200-delegate convention of the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association opens Wednesday night at the Hynes Convention Center. The Boston Convention Exhibition Center will host the Experimental Biology 2013 conference, starting April 20.

The Lenox and Charlesmark hotels remain closed as do several restaurants on Boylston Street in the crime area.

The Mandarin Oriental is open with limited operating service, and both the Copley Square and Courtyard by Marriott Boston Copley Square are open.

All subway lines and stations are open, except for Copley Square station.

The Swan Boat tours are closed, but the Boston Duck Tours are open at the Museum of Science and Aquarium locations until the Prudential Center location reopens.

Tours of the USS Constitution are closed to the public until further notice, but the National Park Service’s Freedom Trail and walking tours are operating.

Faneuil Hall Marketplace is operating on a normal schedule with a full program of street theater, live music and on-site entertainment.

Admission was free on Wednesday at both the Museum of Fine Arts and the Gardner Museum.

The Boston Conservancy is offering free performances April 18-20.

Haunted Boston Ghost Tours will resume regularly on April 19.

The Old State House-Boston’s Revolutionary Museum offers free admission to all marathon runners, many of whom are still in Boston, and all kids under 19 years old through April 21.
