BNY Mellon, Stop & Shop, Shaw’s, Sovereign Bank join efforts to support One …

BNY Mellon, a financial-services company with a presence in Greater Boston, is making a corporate gift of $150,000 to the One Fund Boston, the fund established to support those directly affected by the Boston Marathon bombings and their aftermath.

The company added that it will match up to $100,000 of donations made by its employees to the same fund.

Many companies are rallying to support the One Fund Boston, which was established by Mayor Thomas M. Menino and Governor Deval Patrick.

New Balance Athletic Shoe Inc. announced a $1 million donation Monday, and earlier the Stop Shop supermarket chain, along with its parent company, Ahold USA, committed to a $500,000 contribution.

Shaw’s and sister supermarket chain Star Market said they will be donating $100,000 to support the One Fund Boston. In addition, they have launched an in-store fund-raising initiative to provide customers with a chance to contribute. Shaw’s said it will be matching all customer donations up to an additional $100,000.

Sovereign Bank, a division of Santander Holdings USA with 229 branches in Boston, has announced a commitment of $100,000 to the One Fund Boston.

In a statement, Jorge Moran, Santander US Country Head and Sovereign Bank president and chief executive, said: “Sovereign Bank and Santander Group join all those who love the city of Boston in expressing our sorrow for those affected. The spirit and unity of the city, reflected in the Marathon, has always been its strength and will undoubtedly contribute to a successful recovery.�

Dunkin’ Donuts, which kept stores open and dispatched trucks to serve coffee to police and other first responders, said its parent company, Dunkin’ Brands, will make a $100,000 donation to the One Fund Boston.

In addition, Dunkin’ Donuts said it has been collecting fund donations from customers at about 2,000 Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Maine.

Meanwhile, Entercom Boston said it is donating $25,000 to the fund. Entercom Boston operates three radio stations in the local market: Rock station WAAF, sports radio station WEEI, and talk-radio station WRKO.
