It looks as though Newton is about to get another dose of “FroYo.”
The Irvine, Calif.-based Yogurtland will soon open a location at 1231 Centre St. in Newton Centre.
Although the Yogurtland website does not list its new Newton location, part of the storefront at 1231 Centre St. is covered in a large Yogurtland poster confirming the arrival of the self-serve frozen yogurt shop.
Yogurtland announced late last year its plans to open 20 new locations in the Boston area.
According to the Newton Board of License Commissioners’ April 16, 2013 agenda, Yogurtland plans to be open Sunday-Thursday, 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.
This will be the second frozen yogurt shop in Newton Centre and the fourth in the city, joining Sweet Tart, YoFresh and Pinkberry.
In addition to Yogurtland, Greater Boston Running Company plans to open up in part of the former Tess Carlos space next door, at 1229 Centre St.
Tess Carlos, a women’s clothing boutique, closed up shop last fall after 14 years in Newton Centre.
According to its website, the Greater Boston Running Company’s new Newton location is set to open sometime in May. It currently operates locations in Lexington, Andover, Hingham and Newburyport.
Additional information on opening dates for Yogurtland and Greater Boston Running Co. were not immediately available. Stay tuned to Patch for updates!
