Ph.D., President of Wolfe
Laboratories, Inc.
(WLI), was named Bostons
Entrepreneur of the Year by the Greater
Boston Chamber of Commerce
. The award recognizes the achievements of
small business owners and their contributions to the Greater Boston
community. Janet Wolfe is a savvy
businesswoman whose company demonstrated exceptional financial growth,
management innovation, workplace excellence, risk-taking, and social
responsibility. Janets vision and passion
have enabled her to become a success story in Bostons
life science industry, said Paul Guzzi,
President and CEO of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. The
award acknowledges the leadership and hard work that Wolfe Labs
employees have executed together.

have grown considerably over the past nine years, and we’ve
found that collaboration with the Chamber has stimulated further success
and opportunities for our company. This success is attributed to
everybody at WLI, and I’m proud to be a part
of our innovative team.”

Formed in 1999 by Wolfe, WLI is a contract research and development
company serving the biopharmaceutical industry. During its early years,
Janet and a few interns operated out of a 2,000 square foot facility in
Newton, Massachusetts. Presently, the company boasts multimillion dollar
revenue and a staff of 30 employees at its new 21,000 square foot
headquarters in Watertown, Massachusetts. It
is a privilege to receive this award from the Greater Boston Chamber of
Commerce, said Wolfe. We
have grown considerably over the past nine years, and weve
found that collaboration with the Chamber has stimulated further success
and opportunities for our company. This success is attributed to
everybody at WLI, and Im proud to be a part
of our innovative team.

Wolfe was chosen from a pool of applicants representing companies from
many different industries. Mark Leuchtenberger, President and CEO of
Targanta Therapeutics, Inc. and Chairman of the Massachusetts
Biotechnology Council, views the award as an inspiring accomplishment
for small businesses in the biopharmaceutical industry. Janets
success underscores the importance of the life science industry in the
Boston area, noted Leuchtenberger. Wolfe
Laboratories is a key contributor to Massachusetts
thriving biopharmaceutical industry, and we congratulate Janet on this
well-deserved recognition.

The award is the latest of several recent developments at the
pharmaceutical development company. WLI tripled its lab space to
accommodate Good
Laboratory Practices
(GLP) services and the expansion of WLIs
in vitro ADME and analytical characterization programs.
