BOSTON, June 13, 2013 — /PRNewswire/ — June is National Homeowner’s Month, and one Boston-area business says its home-buying business is blazing even during an already hot real estate market. The Boston area HomeVestors of America franchisees, the number one buyer of houses, has seen a double-digit increase in inquiries and sales in recent months, and they predict activity this summer will be a high not seen for several years.
“We’ve seen a real uptick in activity by everyone in the greater Boston area – from Barnstable, Bristol, Dukes, Norfolk, Essex, Middlesex, Plymouth and Suffolk Counties, Nantucket and even through to Providence,” says Aaron Katz from the Boston HomeVestors group. “In fact, we have been buying houses at a rapid pace.”
The reasons for selling vary from an alternative to foreclosure to quickly wanting to sell a property inheritance. “Whether there’s been a personal change, such as a divorce or new job in another location, some people have taken advantage of the current housing boom to quickly get their money out of their property and be able to move on,” says Katz.
The increased pace of selling and purchases has been record-setting in many areas in and around Boston, and can even include some unusual activity. Says Katz, “One seller wanted to sell two motorcycles with his house, so we included those, too, and the seller was thrilled.”
Just like the other areas in greater Boston, Luke Furey, another one of the Boston HomeVestors, also is seeing lots of opportunity on Cape Cod.
“Real estate in general here on the Cape has picked-up for sellers because inventory has been thinned out since last year, so houses aren’t sitting long, and they’re getting multiple offers right out of the gate,” says Furey. “Inventory is low, so it’s a great time to sell. And with interest rates at a record low, it’s also a great time to buy.”
